The National Arogya Fair – 2024

AYUSH Minister Sarbanand Sonowal said the National Arogya Fair showcase the rich legacy of Indian Traditional Medicine Systems of diversity, innovation and healthcare delivery in AYUSH Sector. Inaugurating the National Arogya Fair 2024 in New Delhi on Thursday, the Minister said that the fair’s  ‘Har din Har Ghar AYUSH’ campaign imparts the benefits of Indian traditional medicine systems to the people. He added that within 9 years of its conception, the AYUSH Ministry has promoted India’s holistic healthcare tradition with more than 900 Ayush start-ups and 9000 Health and Wellness Centres. Mr. Sonowal also informed that under the National AYUSH Mission, continuous efforts are being made to take AYUSH to every district of the country. He added that the International Day of Yoga, Ayurveda Day and World Health Organisation’s Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Gujarat is further proof of India’s traditional healthcare knowledge going global.

The four-day National Arogya Fair is a showcase of India’s cultural and historical legacy in holistic healthcare. The event is open to all, free of charge, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi till the 4th of February.

The National Arogya Fair, organized by the Puran Chandra Gupta Smarak Trust with the support of the Ministry of Ayush, took place from February 1 to February 4, 2024, at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

The primary goal of the event was to showcase the benefits and principles of various traditional healing practices, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. The organizers aimed to raise awareness and promote the adoption of holistic health and wellness practices. The fair also aimed to encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among practitioners, experts, and enthusiasts in the field, providing a platform for businesses and vendors to promote products and services related to Ayush systems.

During the closing ceremony, Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai expressed his satisfaction with the National Arogya Fair, emphasizing its role in bringing together people from different backgrounds to explore various aspects of Ayush. He highlighted the success of panel discussions and the valuable insights gained during the fair.

The minister acknowledged the significant progress made in prioritizing holistic health in public healthcare delivery over the past ten years. He credited the Indian government for adopting a whole-government approach and focusing on the Ministry of Ayush and Traditional Medicine Systems of India.

The event showcased India’s diverse healing traditions, featuring workshops, seminars, exhibitions on Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Naturopathy, and Homeopathy. Attendees also enjoyed free health consultations and cultural programs.

‘Har din Har Ghar Ayush’ Campaign

Sonowal highlighted the significance of the National Arogya Fair in contributing to the advancement of the Ayush sector. He reiterated the essence of the ‘Har din Har Ghar Ayush’ campaign, designed to impart the benefits of Indian traditional medicine systems to the people. The Minister shared encouraging statistics, stating that out of the targeted 12,500 Ayush Health and Wellness Centres, over 9,000 have already been established within a little over nine years since the establishment of the Ministry of Ayush.

Ayush Flourishes: A Tree of Diverse Medical Systems

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, likened Ayush to a flourishing tree under which various medical systems thrive. Speaking about the National Ayush Mission, he emphasized ongoing efforts to take Ayush to every district in the country. Kotecha highlighted advancements in research, with over forty thousand research publications in the Ayush Research Portal. Notably, he expressed satisfaction over the establishment of the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat, by the World Health Organization.

The National Arogya Fair at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium serves as a dynamic convergence of India’s healing traditions, embracing Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. This four-day event stands as a vibrant testament to the nation’s diverse culture and historical legacy in healthcare, providing a platform to celebrate and showcase traditional systems of medicine.
