The Jio Brain In 2024
At the 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Chairman Mukesh Ambani introduced a new AI initiative called “Jio Brain.” This initiative aims to significantly improve how the company operates and interacts with customers by using advanced artificial intelligence tools.
What is Jio Brain?
Jio Brain is a comprehensive set of AI tools developed to enhance efficiency and engagement within Reliance and its various businesses. The goal is to integrate AI technology throughout the company’s operations to make better decisions and understand customers more deeply.
Reliance plans to build large, AI-capable data centers in Jamnagar, Gujarat. These centers will use green energy, showing Reliance’s dedication to environmentally friendly practices.
Cost-Effective AI Solutions
Mukesh Ambani emphasized that one of the goals is to achieve the lowest costs for AI operations worldwide. By working with top international companies, Reliance hopes to make advanced AI technology more affordable and accessible to more people.
Reliance Jio is developing a suite of tools and applications that span the entire artificial intelligence (AI) lifecycle called ‘JioBrain,’ Reliance Industries’ Chairman Mukesh Ambani said during the conglomerate’s 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday.
The company will set AI-ready data centres at Jamnagar, in Gujarat powered by the company’s green energy, said Ambani.
“We are also starting to use JioBrain to drive a similar transformation across other Reliance operating companies, and to fast-track their AI journey as well,” Ambani said.
I anticipate that by perfecting JioBrain within Reliance, we will create a powerful AI service platform that we can offer to other enterprises as well,” he added.
JioBrain integrates 5G’s high speed, and low latency with machine learning capabilities such as anomaly detection, predictive forecasting and automation. The platform can train and apply machine learning (ML) models at the network edge and in the service provider cloud.
“This enables CSPs (cloud service providers) to apply machine learning to not only the network but also to a wide range of 5G services and industrial applications including image and video AI at the edge, probing at the edge, healthcare, education, gaming, and entertainment use cases,” as per Jio Brain’s website.
“It supports the Bring Your Own Data (BYOD) concept – enabling CSPs to feed in data from various sources and in multiple formats – and generates intelligent actionable insights. JioBrain provides call analysis, personalised service recommendations, fraud detection, customer experience analytics, and several key inputs spanning the entire value chain,” its website added.
The service also offers out-of-the-box algorithms that are ready to use, without businesses needing to develop, train, or maintain them. The platform provides capabilities like on-the-fly feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, data aggregation, and auto/manual retraining.
“Digital is another principal area of our in-house research. We have filed patents in 6G, 5G, AI-Large Language Models, AI-Deep Learning, Big Data, Devices, Internet of Things, and Narrowband-IoT,” Ambani said.
Reliance Jio Brain AI: Speaking at RIL’s 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, chairman Mukesh Ambani said Jio is developing a suite of tools and platforms that span the entire AI lifecycle, called Jio Brain.
“We also plan to create multiple AI inference facilities across our captive locations throughout the country, which we will scale up to support the growing demand,” he said.
Reliance aims to create the world’s lowest AI inferencing cost, he said. “We are committed to democratising AI. We will partner with leading global companies to make AI applications more affordable.”
What is Jio Brain?
The RIL chairman said, Jio Brain enables the company to accelerate AI adoption across Jio, driving faster decisions, more accurate predictions, and a better understanding of customer needs, said the RIL chairman.
“We are also starting to use Jio Brain to drive a similar transformation across other Reliance operating companies, and to fast-track their AI journey as well.”
Ambani said, “I anticipate that by perfecting Jio Brain within Reliance, we will create a powerful AI service platform that we can offer to other enterprises as well.”
Jio AI-Cloud: Ambani announced a Diwali offer for its Jio AI-Cloud service, offering 100GB of free storage for Jio users.
“We plan to launch the Jio AI-Cloud Welcome offer starting Diwali this year, bringing a powerful and affordable solution where cloud data storage and data-powered AI services are available to everyone everywhere. […] Jio users will get up to 100 GB of free cloud storage, to securely store and access all their photos, videos, documents, all other digital content, and data,” Ambani said.
“Digital is another principal area of our in-house research. We have filed patents in 6G, 5G, AI-Large Language Models, AI-Deep Learning, Big Data, Devices, Internet of Things, and Narrowband-IoT,” he said and assured that the ongoing tech-driven transformation of Reliance will propel the company into a new orbit of hyper-growth and multiply its value for years to come.
Mukesh Ambani-led RIL holds a 67.03% stake in Jio Platforms Ltd (JPL), which houses Reliance’s telecom and digital properties. The telecom business makes up the bulk of JPL’s operations.
