This is a major step forward in improving finance education and research in India.
About Memorandum of Understanding
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a formal agreement between IIM-B and Mathew Cyriac to create a top-tier institution on the IIM-B campus that will specialize in Private Equity and Venture Capital. This new Centre will be named after Tony James, a well-known investment banker, in recognition of his significant contributions to the industry.
What are the Goals of the Centre?
The main goal of the Centre is to become a global leader in the fields of Private Equity and Venture Capital. It aims to create a strong environment that encourages detailed research and inspires new ideas in these sectors. Mathew Cyriac’s support for this initiative is the largest financial contribution ever made by an alumnus to IIM-B. Besides providing funding, he has also suggested naming four classrooms after the professors who taught his group of students. Additionally, he is helping to create scholarships for students pursuing postgraduate and PhD programs.
What are the Mission and Vision of the Centre?
The Centre’s mission is to build a collaborative environment that brings together academics, industry experts, and regulatory bodies. Its vision is to develop world-class talent in Private Equity and Venture Capital by connecting students with industry leaders, which will enrich their learning and give them valuable practical experience. The Centre will be a central place for advanced research and educational activities. Students will have the chance to learn about the latest trends in Private Equity and Venture Capital, engage in hands-on fieldwork, and receive mentorship from experienced professionals in these fields.
