What is ChatGPT
ChatGPT is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It is built on top of OpenAI’s GPT-3 family of large language models, and is fine-tuned (an approach to transfer learning) with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. What ChatGPT stands for? (It is a Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer)
When ChatGPT was launched? It was launched as a prototype on November 30, 2022, and quickly garnered attention for its detailed responses and articulate answers across many domains of knowledge Its uneven factual accuracy was identified as a significant drawback. Following the release of ChatGPT, OpenAI was valued at $29 billion.
ChatGPT was launched on November 30, 2022, by San Francisco-based OpenAI, the creator of DALL·E 2 and Whisper. Will ChatGPT always be free? The service was launched as initially free to the public, with plans to monetize the service later. By December 4, OpenAI estimated ChatGPT already had over one million users. CNBC wrote on December 15, 2022, that the service “still goes down from time to time”. The service works best in English, but is also able to function in some other languages, to varying degrees of success.
ChatGPT was fine-tuned on top of GPT-3.5 using supervised learning as well as reinforcement learning. Both approaches used human trainers to improve the model’s performance. In the case of supervised learning, the model was provided with conversations in which the trainers played both sides: the user and the AI assistant.
Features and limitations
Although the core function of a chatbot is to mimic a human conversationalist, ChatGPT is Important and versatile. We can use ChatGPT in various fields like it has the ability to write and debug computer programs; to compose music, teleplays, fairy tales, and student essays; to answer test questions ChatGPT’s training data includes man pages and information about Internet phenomena and programming languages, such as bulletin board systems and the Python programming language. OpenAI’s new chatbot can explain code and write sitcom scripts also and more.
ChatGPT suffers from multiple limitations. OpenAI acknowledged that ChatGPT “sometimes writes plausible-sounding but incorrect or nonsensical answers”. This behavior is common to large language models and is called hallucination. The reward model of ChatGPT, designed around human oversight, can be over-optimized and thus hinder performance, otherwise known as Goodhart’s law. ChatGPT has limited knowledge of events that occurred after 2021.
ChatGPT can be detected as we use OpenAI stores data that’s generated when you interact with ChatGPT. According to OpenAI, the content generated by your interaction with ChatGPT is used to “improve” the AI model and could be reviewed by human AI trainers. In simple terms, someone could eventually be reading through the excerpts of your conversations. So, Do not share any confidential information with ChatGPT.
Implications for cybersecurity
Check Point Research and others noted that ChatGPT was capable of writing phishing emails and malware, especially when combined with OpenAI Codex. The CEO of ChatGPT creator OpenAI, Sam Altman, wrote that advancing software could pose “(for example) a huge cybersecurity risk” and also continued to predict “we could get to real AGI (artificial general intelligence) in the next decade, so we have to take the risk of that extremely seriously”
ChatGPT is a conversational large language model (LLM) that can discuss almost any topic at an almost human level. It reads context and answers questions easily, though sometimes not accurately (improving its accuracy is a work in progress). After launching as a free public beta on November 30, the GPT-3-powered AI bot has inspired awe, wonder, and fear in education, computer security, and finance. It’s shaken up the tech industry, prompting a $10 billion investment from Microsoft and causing Google to see its life flash before its eyes.
What is ChatGPT?
Launched by OpenAI in November 2022, ChatGPT is a chatbot. The GPT-3 family of large language models from OpenAI provides the foundation for this system, which has been fine-tuned (A method of transfer learning) using both supervised and reinforcement learning strategies. When ChatGPT was launched? On November 30, 2022, it was released as a prototype and gained popularity right away for its thorough responses and well-written comments in a variety of subject areas. One key flaw was noted to be its uneven factual accuracy. OpenAI was valued at $29 billion after ChatGPT’s release.
On November 30, 2022, San Francisco-based OpenAI, the company behind DALLE 2 and Whisper, released ChatGPT. Will ChatGPT always be free? With the intention of later making the service profitable, it was initially made available for free to the general public. OpenAI calculated that ChatGPT had over one million users as of December 4th. The service “still falls down from time to time,” according to a CNBC article from December 15, 2022. The service performs best in English, but it can also be used, with variable degrees of success, in some other languages.
Features and limitations
Although a chatbot’s primary purpose is to mimic a human conversationalist, ChatGPT is important and adaptable. ChatGPT can be used in a variety of industries, including writing and debugging computer programs, creating music, teleplays, fairy tales, and student essays, and providing test-taking assistance. The training materials for ChatGPT include man pages, facts on web trends, and details on popular programming languages like Python and bulletin board systems. The new chatbot from OpenAI can explain code, write sitcom scripts, and do other things.
ChatGPT has a number of drawbacks. ChatGPT occasionally “writes plausible-sounding but wrong or illogical answers,” according to OpenAI. Large language models frequently engage in this behavior, which is known as hallucination. The human oversight-centered reward structure of ChatGPT can be over-optimized, which would reduce performance and violate Goodhart’s law. ChatGPT is only partially aware of activities that took place after 2021.
We use OpenAI to record the data created when you interact with ChatGPT, which allows us to detect ChatGPT. The information produced by your interactions with ChatGPT, according to OpenAI, is used to “enhance” the AI model and may be examined by human AI trainers. Simply put, portions of your conversations may one day be read by someone else. So, Do not share any confidential information with ChatGPT.
Consequences for cybersecurity
The ability of ChatGPT to create malware and phishing emails was observed by Check Point Research and others, particularly when combined with OpenAI Codex… Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, stated in a blog post that the development of software could present “huge cybersecurity risks, for example,” and that “we could get to real AGI (artificial general intelligence) in the next decade, so we have to take the risk of that extremely seriously.”
