Asia Cup 2025
The 2025 Men’s Hockey Asia Cup will be the 12th edition of the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup, the quadrennial international men’s field hockey championship of Asia organized by the Asian Hockey Federation. It will be held in Rajgir, India from 27 August to 7 September 2025.
The winner will qualify for the 2026 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium. South Korea are the defending champions.
Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar will host it’s second international tournament as Hockey India awarded the Bihar State Sports Authority the hosting rights for the Men’s Asia Cup 2025.
The tournament comprising of eight teams will be played from 29th August to 7th September at the newly developed Sports Complex in Rajgir.
Pakistan, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, China along with hosts India will make the six teams in the 12th edition of the continental tournament. The remaining two teams will secure their berth in the tournament via qualifying tournament, the AHF Cup.
The tournament will serve as the qualifiers for the 2026 Hockey World Cup set to be hosted in the Netherlands and Belgium. The winner of the tournament will directly qualify for Hockey WC.
South Korea stands as the most successful team in the history of the Men’s Asia Cup with five titles (1994, 1999, 2009, 2013, and 2022), followed closely by India (2003, 2007, and 2017) and Pakistan (1982, 1985, and 1989), who have each won the tournament three times.
This is the second international tournament at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium as the venue hosted the 2024 edition of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy where Indian women’s team defeated Olympic silver medallists China to clinch the title.
The hockey stadium is part of the larger state-of-the-art Sports University which will cater to 25 different sports – including hockey, football, kabaddi, volleyball, swimming, and wrestling, among others, once completed.
After signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), B Rajendra, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Sports, Bihar, said, “The signing of the MoU between Hockey India and the Bihar State Sports Authority marks a significant step in Bihar’s journey towards becoming a premier sporting destination.”
